Are you interested in knowing your organization’s environmental commitment level and ranking?

The Environmental Management Commitment Index – EMCI is an initiative of CLACDS, INCAE and InWEnt, Ecobanking Project partners. The EMCI is a simple tool for virtual evaluation, by means of which financial institutions can evaluate their commitment to adopting environmental guidelines in their internal and external operations, comparing their commitment to that of 86 other regional and national institutions.  

The purpose of the EMCI is to encourage Latin American financial institutions to include environmental guidelines in their operations and compare their efforts with that of other institutions which have already started the process.

Financial institutions interested in knowing their EMCI should complete a short electronic form with 10 questions concerning the adoption of environmental guidelines in their operations. Financial institutions completing this form will receive a report with their score and ranking in the continent based on that score (ranking between 1 and 87, including its own score, where first place goes to the most committed financial institution and 87 th goes to the least committed), as well as the average score of their country's institutions and the average for the region. This information will allow the participating financial institution to compare its current commitment with the rest of the region.

The names and rankings of already evaluated financial institutions and the name of the participating entity will not be reported, in order to maintain Ecobanking Project's information confidentiality. The program will only report the ranking of the participating institution with respect to the other 86. If a financial institution wishes its ranking to be recorded in the program, it must request information verification by Ecobanking Project and assume the costs implied in this process.

Participation in the process is voluntary and financial institutions may participate more than once, so that they can evaluate themselves under different commitment alternatives.
