Eco-efficiency Guide for the Latin American Financial Sector
The Eco-efficiency Guide intends to provide Latin American financial sector analysis criteria and implementation tools to more efficiently manage environmental and social risks in their internal operations, products, services and external relations.
CLACDS has created the Eco-efficiency Guide to establish a reference for the best practices in the region and to service as a valuable tool for the sector's managers. The site includes useful information and practical suggestions about environmental management, resource usage, credit analysis, environmental policies, and investments.
The Eco-efficiency Guide is based on the guidelines from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) for environmental management at financial institutions and a guide that was developed by the Association of Swiss Bankers. The Swiss leadership experience and that of other international financial institutions shows that eco-efficiency supports the environment and society and at the same time reduces operating costs and risks.
Since it was developed, the Eco-efficiency Guide has become one of the references for best practices in the region. Financial institutions have a free tool translated into three languages (Spanish, English, and Portuguese) where they are methodically guided in the best way to include environmental and social guidelines in their operations.
